Addressing Homelessness

The Housing Department provides grants to the following nonprofit partners to administer its core services, such as outreach and engagement, case management, and rapid re-housing to homeless persons, with priority services offered to those who reside in encampments located in San José.

  • Utilize rapid re-housing and other evidence based approaches
  • Provide a mechanism for citizens to report homelessness concerns

Homeless Concerns Hotline and Homeless Helpline
For concerns related to homelessness and encampments in your community, please call 408-975-1440 or email . Housing Department staff will respond to inquiries within three business days to 1) acknowledge receipt of the concern, and 2) collect any additional details needed. An outreach team will then be deployed to assess the situation, offer services to homeless individuals in the area, and determine any next steps to resolve the reported concern.

How to Get Involved

These are ways you can help end homelessness in San José and make a real difference in your community:

  • Educate yourself and your community on the issue of homelessness.
  • Volunteer for creek clean up events such as or Friends of Los Gatos Creek.
