Welcome to the San José City Council District 8 website! It is my greatest honor to serve as your Councilmember. The District 8 staff and I are dedicated to addressing the concerns of and improving our District 8 community and the City of San José.

As your representative, I am committed to being your voice on the City Council - advocating for safer streets, thriving local businesses, great schools, and activated park space.

District 8, which encompasses parts of East San José and Evergreen, is a remarkable community with a diverse mix of neighborhoods. While known for its beautiful open space as the home of the beautiful Lake Cunningham park and many trails, District 8 is also home to shopping destinations like Eastridge Mall or the small-town feel of Evergreen Square. District 8 is a great place to start a business and raise a family, with stellar local schools around. I am incredibly excited to be serving such a wonderful area.

This website will be a one-stop shop for important city resources you may need, upcoming community events, as well as news updates on what is happening at City Hall. Feel free to also follow me on social media and sign up for my monthly electronic newsletter by clicking on the links on the left hand side of this website.

Please do not hesitate to contact me at 408-535-4908 if I or my staff can ever be of assistance, we are committed to helping you in any way we can. I am committed to being available and accessible to all residents and businesses, engaging with the community on any issue that impacts our neighborhood.

Thank you for visiting the District 8 website.

Best wishes,
Sylvia Arenas
