  1. Sonic Runway

    November 20, 2017 - March 9, 2018 @ San Jose City Hall

    The City of San José Office of Cultural Affairs in collaboration with Burning Man Project present Sonic Runway by Rob Jensen and Warren Trezevant as the first artwork selected for the Playa to Paseo initiative. Sonic Runway is a light-art installation that visualizes the speed of sound. The artwork is 432 feet long and stretch across a city block between 4th and 5th streets in front of San José City Hall, 200 E. Santa Clara Street, San Jose, CA 95113. Sonic Runway converts audio signals into a pattern of lights that shoot down a corridor of arches at the speed of sound, (1235kph /767mph). Live audio input is analyzed and converted into intricate patterns that shoot down the corridor with sound and lights in sync. The artwork can be be viewed nightly from 5:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. through March 2018.

Folks who attend the Fest will hear a mix of young artists pushing the envelope of jazz and R&B, as well as legends with fundamental straight-ahead chops. This two-week celebration features concerts, dance parties and more.

    A Celebration of the Lunar New Year, the most traditional observed holiday for Vietnamese people. Join on one of the biggest Vietnamese New Year Festival in San Jose. The Vietnamese New Year will take place at Eastridge Mall and will feature live entertainment, lion and dragon dance, contests, carnival rides and games, food booths, and more.

  1. Town Hall: Climate Smart San José

    February 20, 7:00 PM - 8:30 PM @ San José City Hall, Council Chambers

    The City will host a town hall meeting to inform the community about Climate Smart San José (CSSJ).

    CSSJ, formerly known as the Environmental Sustainability Plan, is a City of San José initiative to reduce greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) and ensure a long-term water supply. Climate Smart San José will make San José a climate leader, putting the City on a path to meet GHG reduction targets under the Paris climate agreement. The plan has three components: energy, mobility and water.

    The City will release a draft of the plan this month. Residents are encouraged to provide their feedback at that time by visiting the Climate Smart San José website at www.sanjoseca.gov/cssj.

    The town hall meeting will inform the community about the plan and give residents an opportunity to ask questions. The City Council will consider adopting the plan on Feb. 27.

    The City values your feedback in creating Climate Smart San José.

    FuseTheatre is proud to present Jose Cruz Gonzalez’s play adaption of Pat Mora's children's book "Tomás and the Library Lady ". This bilingual play is the boyhood story of Tomás Rivera and how he befriended a librarian in Iowa who encouraged him to read. The play includes a cast of three with puppets and projections that create a magical journey of discovery.
