    1. We are looking for students who would like to intern for the Office of the City Clerk. This unpaid internship position provides students with a work opportunity and learning experience. Under close supervision, student interns will perform routine and/or general assistance tasks, and will perform related work as required. Student interns are expected to have a willingness to learn and apply their academic training to the required job assignments. The essential function of the job may vary from student to student to assist with the following:

      * Conduct surveys and compile data for general or departmental use
      * Analyze and prepare written assignments
      * Participate in preparation and review
      * Personnel systems administration
      * Review records, identify discrepancies and research information
      * Perform related work

    2. Education and Experience
      Any combination equivalent to current enrollment in an accredited high school, college, or university. Student interns have flexible hours to work around their school schedules; however, interns will be given a set schedule. The City Clerk's Office is open Monday thru Friday from 8:00 A.M to 5:00 P.M. We expect interns to work a minimum of 3 hours per shift. High school interns generally work between 10-15 hours per week; undergraduate interns work between 20-30 hours per week; and graduate interns work between 25-40 hours per week (unless otherwise agreed upon between student and the intern lead).

      Knowledge and Abilities
      * Knowledge and ability to use computers and its related applications
      * Ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with others
      * Ability to carry out oral and written instructions
      * Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing

    3. Individuals providing student intern services to the City of San Jose may be terminated for any reason or no reason and at any time by the City of San Jose without notice of hearing. Any changes to your work schedule are subject to the approval of the intern lead. Student interns are required to successfully pass a fingerprint background check.
