The San Jose Sharks Foundation, San Jose Sharks, SAP, and NHL donated half-a-million dollars to renovate the Department of Parks, Recreation and Neighborhood Services Roosevelt Community Center and Park Roller Hockey Rink. The NHL selects an annual “Legacy Project” in the city where the All-Star Game is hosted. The sponsorship improved the rink and provided funds for hockey-related recreational programming and equipment. The upgraded rink was unveiled on Jan. 24 with children from PRNS afterschool programs playing a friendly game of hockey alongside Sharks player’s, Joe Pavelski, Brent Burns, Eric Karlsson and mascots Sharkie, Louie, NJ Devil and Bernie the St. Bernard. As the demand for safe and accessible places to play increases, PRNS seeks to partner with corporations and major league sports to provide new amenities for San José youth and families.
